Dr. Dre, born Andre Romelle Young on February 18, 1965, in Compton, California, is a towering figure in the world of hip-hop and music production, known for his groundbreaking work as a producer, rapper, and entrepreneur. He emerged in the mid-1980s as a member of the pioneering gangsta rap group N.W.A, which played a crucial role in popularizing the West Coast rap sound.

Growing up in Compton, a city known for its gang violence, Dre found an escape in music. He started his career as a DJ in local clubs, where he honed his skills in mixing and producing. His early work was influenced by funk artists, which is evident in his later productions.

Dr. Dre rose to fame with N.W.A, alongside Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella. In 1996, Dre left Death Row to start his own label, Aftermath Entertainment, under which he released several successful albums, including his own “2001” in 1999. He also signed Eminem and 50 Cent, two of the most successful artists of the 2000s, and produced their key albums.
