Dangerous Dame, born Damon D. Edwards, is a distinguished artist in the hip-hop world, hailing from Oakland, California. He emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a significant figure in the Bay Area’s rap scene, known for his lyrical dexterity and innovative style.

Dangerous Dame’s journey in the music industry began with his collaboration with DJ Dopecut on the album “Jumpin” in 1989 under James Edwards Sr. Enterprize. This debut showcased his potential as a rapper, blending Oakland’s gritty street narratives with engaging beats.

In 1990, Dangerous Dame released “I Got What You Want” under Atlantic Records, marking his entry into a broader market and demonstrating his adaptability to different styles and sounds. This was followed by “Same Olé Dame” in 1992 under T-Cap Records and Sugar Ray Howell Management, further solidifying his presence in the hip-hop community.

His 1994 album “Make Room 4 Daddy,” released under Snake Pit Records, showcased a continued evolution of his style and lyrical content, reflecting both personal growth and changes in the hip-hop landscape.

Throughout his career, Dangerous Dame was prolific in releasing singles and EPs, including “The Power Thats Packed / It Takes A Rapper” (1988), “I Call Your Name / Powers That Be” (1989), and “The Bomb” (1991). Each release offered something new to his fans, whether it was a fresh beat, a unique collaboration, or insightful lyrics.

One of his notable releases was “Escape From The Mental Ward” in 1994 under No Limit Records and Anti-Wack Music, showcasing his versatility and ability to engage with different sub-genres within hip-hop.

In 1996, he released “Gotta Get Up” under Money Records and “Oaktowns Best Kept Secret,” both of which demonstrated his enduring presence in the industry. In 1999, under the alias Saucy, Dangerous Dame released “Haven’t You Heard?”, an EP that further displayed his talent and versatility.

Dangerous Dame’s impact on hip-hop extends beyond his discography. He was one of the first artists from the Bay Area to sign with a major record label, paving the way for other artists in the region.
